BOAT ROCKER STUDIOS SELLS PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER ‘THE RIDGE’ TO ACORN TV

The six-part scripted series stars Lauren Lyle and Jay Ryan

TORONTO, ON, June 24, 2026 – Boat Rocker Studios, the award-winning independent global entertainment company, today announced AMC Global Media’s Acorn TV has picked up exclusive streaming rights in the US for its six-part psychological thriller The Ridge.

The Ridge stars award-winning actress Lauren Lyle (Outlander, Karen Pirie) as Mia, a Scottish anaesthesiologist who, while dealing with addiction and an investigation into her work, escapes to New Zealand for her estranged sister’s wedding – only to find the bride-to-be dead upon arrival. Struggling with grief, an unsettling attraction to her late sister’s fiancé, Ewan (Jay Ryan, North of North, Top of the Lake), and the increasing conviction that her sister was murdered, Mia untangles a web of lies and secrets threatening to tear the mountain town apart.

The 6 x 60’ series was produced by Great Southern Studios and Sinner Films, in association with Boat Rocker Studios. The Ridge will debut on Acorn TV, the leading streaming service for international mysteries and crime dramas, on July 27, 2026. The deal was brokered by Brad Horvath, VP, Content Sales & Distribution at Boat Rocker Studios, and Don Klees, SVP of Programming, Acorn TV.

“We are thrilled to partner with Acorn TV to bring The Ridge to US audiences. The Ridge features standout performances, a captivating setting that itself serves as another character, and twists and turns that will keep viewers guessing,” said Jon Rutherford, President, Global Content & Rights, Boat Rocker Studios. “We look forward to sharing the series with new viewers and expanding its success.”

"Acorn TV champions storytelling that pushes the boundaries of suspense, and The Ridge delivers on that promise,” said Courtney Thomasma, AMC Global Media’s EVP of Linear and Streaming. “This psychological thriller offers the kind of smart, character‑driven storytelling and rich atmosphere our viewers love. We’re delighted to partner again with Boat Rocker to bring this gripping mystery to US audiences this summer.”

The Ridge was commissioned by Sky New Zealand and BBC Scotland, with Boat Rocker Studios handling worldwide distribution. It debuted in October 2025 in the UK on BBC iPlayer and BBC Scotland, and in New Zealand on Sky Open, Neon and Sky Go.

Created by novelist Nora Chassler and David Murdoch and co-written with Alan Campbell, Kate McDermott and Jess Sayer, The Ridge is directed by BAFTA-winning Scottish director Douglas Mackinnon (Good Omens, Line of Duty) and Emmy-nominated New Zealand director Robyn Grace (Sweet Tooth, Power Rangers). The series is executive produced by Boat Rocker Studios’ Partners David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg (Mix Tape, Orphan Black), alongside Jon Rutherford (Bet, Mix Tape) and Erik Pack (Video Nasty).
