BOAT ROCKER STUDIOS BEGINS PRODUCTION ON TWO NEW ANIMATED PRESCHOOL SERIES

‘Puppy Pirates’ and ‘Harlo’ are both produced by Industrial Brothers and Boat Rocker Studios.

TORONTO, ON – October 22, 2026 –‍  ‍Boat Rocker Studios, the award-winning independent entertainment company, has started production on two new animated preschool series. Harlo, a 2D animation preschool series, is set to launch on CBC in 2027, while Puppy Pirates will stream globally on Netflix.

Harlo (52 x 11’), commissioned by CBC (and previously announced as Hartford), is produced by Boat Rocker Studios and Industrial Brothers, with Industrial Brothers serving as the animation studio.

Harlo is a cautious five-and-a-half-year-old bunny who, in each episode, navigates through everyday adventures with his single Dad and best friends Tula and Maple. Built on the pillars of comedy, community, and heart, the show engages children, and their parents and caregivers, while providing important life lessons in a fun, relatable and authentic way. The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) provides guidance on the series’ themes of navigating anxiety.

Harlo is created and directed by animation industry veteran Mike Geiger (Winston Steinburger and Sir Dudley Ding Dong), with Alan Gregg (Remy & Boo) serving as Story Editor and Creative Producer. Boat Rocker’s Kayla McNally (Dino Ranch) and Vanessa Esteves (Super Wish) also serve as Creative Producers, alongside writers Stephanie Kaliner (Odd Squad), Sean Jara (Mysticons), and Jay Vaidya (16 Hudson). Boat Rocker Studios’ David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg and Jon Rutherford (Dino Ranch: Island Explorers) serve as executive producers, alongside Matthew Fernandes and Tammy Semen (Dino Ranch) for Industrial Brothers. For CBC, Sally Catto is General Manager, Entertainment; Marie McCann is Senior Director, Children’s Content, CBC Kids; and Lisa Cinelli is Executive in Charge of Production, CBC Kids. Boat Rocker manages global content distribution, brand management, and licensing.

Puppy Pirates (40 x 11’) is also now in production in Toronto. Produced by Boat Rocker Studios and Industrial Brothers, the series was created by Industrial Brothers co-founder Matthew Fernandes (Dino Ranch, Daniel Spellbound)

Puppy Pirates follows four heroic hounds sailing the high seas and fetching what you love the most. Did someone take your treasure? Have you lost your loot? Then call the Puppy Pirates!

Executive producers on the series are Boat Rocker's Fortier, Schneeberg, and Rutherford, alongside Industrial Brothers’ Fernandes and Semen. Co-executive producer Max Beaudry (Paw Patrol) also serves as Executive Story Editor. Kayla McNally (The Strange Chores) is Creative Producer, with Anna Keenan (Dino Ranch) and Genna du Plessis (Kingdom Force) as Supervising Producers and Erica Newman as Producer (Dino Ranch). Puppy Pirates will stream globally on Netflix.

These new production announcements follow the previously announced greenlight of season two of Dino Ranch: Island Explorers, with CBC, Radio-Canada and Warner Bros. Discovery.
