BOAT ROCKER STUDIOS SELLS AWARD-WINNING SCRIPTED SERIES ‘MIX TAPE’ TO AMC NETWORKS
Hit Drama Starring Teresa Palmer, Jim Sturgess, Florence Hunt, and Rory Walton-Smith to Air on AMC+ and Acorn TV
TORONTO, ON – December 2, 2025 – Boat Rocker Studios, the award-winning, independent global entertainment company, today announced AMC Networks has picked up its hit drama series Mix Tape for AMC+ and Acorn TV. The deal grants AMC Networks exclusive streaming rights to the series in the U.S., and co-exclusive rights in Canada, where Mix Tape is also available on CBC Gem.
Jumping between Sheffield, England in 1989 and the modern day, Mix Tape follows Daniel and Alison, who fell in love as teenagers exchanging mix tapes, and who are now leading totally separate lives, an ocean apart. But when Daniel follows Alison on Facebook, sharing a link to a song from their past, she can’t help but respond in kind. And so begins a new mix tape. They have spouses and families of their own now, but they’re not really breaking any rules, are they?
Winner of the 2025 SXSW TV Spotlight Audience Award, Mix Tape stars Teresa Palmer (A Discovery of Witches, The Last Anniversary) as Alison and Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe, Cloud Atlas) as Daniel. Florence Hunt (Bridgerton, Cursed) and newcomer Rory Walton-Smith play Alison and Daniel in their youth.
The 4 x 60’ series, which was recently nominated for the C21 International Drama Award for English-Language Series, was produced by Subotica and Aquarius Films, in association with Boat Rocker Studios. It will debut on AMC+ and on Acorn TV in 2026. The AMC Networks deal was brokered by Brad Horvath, VP, Content Sales & Distribution at Boat Rocker Studios, and Don Klees, SVP of Programming, Acorn TV.
“Mix Tape is a smart, nostalgic series that captures how music, memory and connection shape us,” said Horvath. “It’s got a great cast, killer soundtrack, and a love story that stays with you – all paired with the central question of what really happened between Alison and Daniel. We’re excited to partner with AMC Networks to share it with U.S. audiences.”
"Mix Tape is the kind of sophisticated storytelling our viewers appreciate and is the perfect addition to both AMC+ and Acorn TV's lineup of distinctive international dramas," said Klees. "We're thrilled to offer this award-winning series exclusively to our U.S. subscribers."
Mix Tape was commissioned by Foxtel and is distributed globally by Boat Rocker Studios. It debuted on Binge in Australia in June, and has since been acquired by CBC Gem (Canada), Movistar Plus+ (Telefónica) (Spain), RTV (Slovenia), BBC 2 and BBC iPlayer (United Kingdom), RTÉ (Republic of Ireland), Pickbox NOW and Pickbox TV (Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Bulgaria) and MTV3 (Finland).
Adapted from the popular and critically acclaimed novel by Jane Sanderson, Mix Tape is written by Jo Spain and directed by Lucy Gaffy. The series is produced by Aoife O’Sullivan and Tristan Orpen Lynch for Subotica and Angie Fielder and Polly Staniford for Aquarius Films. Alison Hurbert-Burns, Lana Greenhalgh and Clare Mirabello serve as executive producers alongside David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg, Nick Nantell and Erik Pack for Boat Rocker Studios. Major production investment from the Foxtel Group in association with Screen Australia and Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland. Financed with support from the Finnish Impact Film Fund, Screen NSW’s Made in NSW Fund and The Post Lounge.
