BOAT ROCKER STUDIOS SELLS ‘HIDDEN BENEATH THE CITIES’ TO NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC
The global studio announces a raft of sales for its unscripted content
TORONTO, ON, December 17, 2025 – Boat Rocker Studios, the award-winning independent entertainment company, today announced that National Geographic has acquired Hidden Beneath the Cities for multiple global territories, including the US and UK. The acquisition is one of a slew of recent deals announced across Boat Rocker’s unscripted catalogue.
Hidden Beneath the Cities (10 x 60’), which Boat Rocker greenlit through its partnership with Toronto’s Shark Teeth Films, uncovers the extraordinary worlds that exist below modern urban centres. From Naples’ folklore tombs and WWII shelters to England’s mysterious Royston Cave, each episode explores the myths, history and artistry of these hidden realms.

Boat Rocker Studios continues to see strong global interest in Shark Teeth’s brand of history/mystery documentaries. Secrets in the Sand (8 x 60’) was acquired by Hearst Network (UK, Benelux, CEE, Africa), RTI (Italy), WBD (US, Spain & Andorra) and JCG (South Korea). JCG also picked up seasons 1 and 2 of Shark Teeth’s Discovered by Disaster (20 x 60’), seasons 3 to 5 of Secrets in the Ice (30 x 60’), Secrets in the Dark (8 x 60’) and season 2 of Forté Entertainment’s How I Got Here (10 x 60’). Meanwhile, Blue Ant Media (Canada) picked up Secrets in the Dark, Hidden Beneath the Cities, season 4 of Secrets in the Ice (10 x 60’) and Season 2 of Discovered by Disaster (10 x 60’) for its T+E and Cottage Life channels.
Weather-related content is also popular globally. Boat Rocker Studios is the exclusive distributor of The Weather Channel’s library of originals, which have garnered significant international sales. Weather Gone Viral (89 x 60’) sold to Disney (Seasons 2 to 4: Poland, Hungary, Romania), Kino Polska TV (Season 6: Poland), WBD (Seasons 5 and 6: Italy, Monaco; Season 8: Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg) and Media Corp (Seasons 7 and 8: Singapore). TVA (French Canada) also picked up season 1 of Fight or Flight Studios’ Fast Home Rescue (10 x 60’) and season 1 of Weather Top Ten (10 x 60’), with RTI (Italy) taking seasons 1 to 3 (23 x 60’). In addition, RTI (Italy) picked up season 1 of Bigger Bang’s Prime Suspect: Earth (10 x 60’), while Blue Ant Media (Canada) picked up seasons 1 and 2 (16 x 60’) for its T+E and Cottage Life channels. In addition, TRUE CRIME (UK, Ireland) acquired four seasons of Jupiter Entertainment’s Storm of Suspicion (80 x 60’), and WBD (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg) secured Deep Water Salvage (10 x 60’), produced by Renowned Films.
Seasons 1 and 2 of travel and food series Chuck & The First People’s Kitchen (26 x 30’), produced by Trio Orange, were acquired by CBC GEM (Canada), while TVB (Hong Kong) secured seasons 2 and 3 (26 x 30’). Mediawan (Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland) secured the first two seasons of Unexplained Caught on Camera (18 x 60’), produced by Back2Back Productions.
These sales add to the growing global success of Boat Rocker’s unscripted portfolio, which also includes new series Great Estates from Above (4 x 60’), Abandoned Inventions (10 x 60’), Claw Hunters (8 x 60’) and My Nightmare Stalker (1 x 90’/ 2 x 45’).
